City Chicken Supporter:
Just Food offers workshops, building materials, and locally raised hens to community gardeners throughout the city who want to raise chickens for eggs. Chickens contribute to the health of local gardens and provide a source of income and nutritious food for urban farmers. Each chicken-keeper receives a City Chicken Guide, filled with valuable information about keeping safe, healthy, happy hens in the City. Support our work and theirs by making a contribution today! Your gift of $25 provides this vital resource plus technical support from our City Farms staff. Tax deductible amount: $25.
$25.00
City Chicken Supporter Plus: This gift will also benefit the City Chicken project, but in addition to the above, your gift will also include a "Beet the System," "Lettuce Eat Local" or "Yes We Can" tee - your choice! Please specify message and size. Tax deductible amount: $26.
$50.00
Farmer's Friend:
The CSA in NYC program supports the livelihoods of more than 20 local, organic vegetable growers and an additional 20+ egg, flower, meat, and dairy farms. Just Food provides training to volunteers throughout the City to prepare them to represent their farmer, recruit and manage membership, and handle site logistics and finances. $100 will cover the cost of a 2-hour workshop, which will train volunteers from 5 to 15 CSAs. This gift provides a building block in the creation of a stable, productive CSA - lending stability and security to a network of farms for years to come. Tax deductible amount: $100
$100.00
Bounty for Babies:
Throughout the city, low income mothers collect Farmers Market Nutrition Program Coupons, which help them to purchase fresh, locally grown produce from farmers markets. Just Food's dedicated team of Community Chefs reaches out to these mothers, with fun and engaging Baby-Food Making Workshops. Home-made baby food is more affordable and nutritious, and it's easy to make once you know how. With this gift, we'll offer workshops for dozens of moms and help them find a farmers market close by. Tax deductible amount: $250
$250.00
Gardener's Friend:
In communities where fresh food access is limited, Just Food supports community gardeners and urban farmers, providing resources and skill-building workshops to help them grow more food for the neighborhoods that need it most. For $500, you can help us offer a mini-series of workshops which will improve growing techniques and increase food production. This food will be enjoyed by the gardeners, their friends and neighbors, and the food pantry and soup kitchen clients who benefit from surplus food donations, not just this year, but every year. Give the gift of self-reliance by becoming a Gardener's Friend today. Tax deductible amount: $500
